Board Chair

Dr. Effah serves as chair of the Board, providing governance oversight, scientific authority, and strategic direction for Globe & Systems. Brings deep expertise in sustainability assessment, cumulative effects assessment, climate and ecosystem resilience, land-use change, environmental risk and impact assessment, climate risk, ESG, and the integration of Indigenous knowledge into environmental decision-making. As Board Chair, he ensures that the firm’s scientific and methodological standards remain rigorous, defensible, and aligned with international best practice across the environments and jurisdictions in which the firm operates. His broader body of work spans sustainability assessment, climate change adaptation and mitigation in forest ecosystems, the evolution of cumulative effects assessment research, the integration of Indigenous knowledge and community voice in environmental decision-making, and post-mining landscape restoration. He works through an international research network spanning Canada, Ghana, Germany, Japan, and Indonesia, with collaborations including the United Nations University Institute for Advanced Study of Sustainability and the University of Tokyo. His publications appear in Frontiers in Environmental Science, Environmental Reviews, Ecological Indicators, Sustainability Science, Journal of Environmental Management, and MethodsX. Background Dr. Antwi holds a PhD in Environmental and Resource Management from the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus, Germany, an MSc in Environmental and Resource Management, and a BSc in Biological Sciences. His career spans federal government research, international environmental programs, and applied projects across Canada, Ghana, Germany, and Japan, giving him a cross-continental perspective on environmental policy and practice.
